It’s been festival season here in Nepal, a seemingly endless and welcome holiday. The blockade at the Indian border has all but paralyzed the city, yet life goes on and everyone celebrates. There’s music and dancing in the streets everywhere. Late at night around the Boudha stupa, lay people and monks alike are out. I stayed in Bouda, the Tibetan Buddhist hub, for ten days with one night in “town” to meet friends on the other side. Many of the people in these photos I’ve known since my first visit to Nepal in 2000.
I arrived in Pokhara last eve and will be off for the five day trek to Poon Hill for views of the Annapurna range…the journey continues.
